  • Could I use the startup sound for my sound mega set please?

  • Sure

  • That noise is pure rock'n roll.

Mechanical equivalent of a Jimmy Page solo.

  • Say what you like about American cars, firearms or even alcohol, at least they don't piss about when it comes to rail-based muscle-power. Nice example of modern engineering.

  • Nice sound!!!!

  • @daimonion6666 - Oh, damn dude....I haven't laughed that hard in ages.

  • cool

  • When I hear engine startup like this one, I start crying and have erection at the same time.

  • Seriously, HOW can you dislike this sound?! I wanna bitch-slap four people...xD

  • There were good units. Ages ago I bought about 7 of these from ATSF. Long time ago in fact. Good electrical. Very light locomotives. Most are still in service.

  • that is like my locomotive..

  • Love that sound!

  • It's called diesel electric because yes the engine is the power source but it doesn't turn the wheels the electric traction motors do. Electricity plays a big part in most locomotives so it's included in the name.

  • How long does it take an engine to warm up?
