  • Hi I have saddle capes from metz but I find it hard to get a good Chinese cock cape

  • Hi simonmx23,

The best chinese that I have found come from veniards but also you can get a good rooster cape from the Glasgow Angling Centre but it is always better if you can look through them to get the feather you like to use..

    All the best Davie

  • Can you please tell me were you buy your capes from and what make of vice do you use. Keep up the good work

  • Hi simonmx23,

I have bought capes from many places but the problems which we all are having are that the saddles especially are being bought by the fashion trade for hair (feather) extentions. What capes are you looking for?

The Vise I use is called a Law which was made here in the U.K by a gentleman called Lawrance Waldron but unfortunatrly he has stopped making them..

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, i love your videos and have tied almost all your dries :)

i thought about something, have you tried the same fly but with a white feather for tail and wings? and if, what was the respons? (:

    All the best Michael

  • Hi Michael,

The original fly was a natural mallard flank and a red game hackle a great pattern and I would say the most popular. This style can be tyed in whatever colour you find useful for where you fish and white would be a good one to try...

    All the best Davie

  • hi davie love watching your vids

  • Hi Davie, I love this video, it looks so simple like you say, that is until I try to tye, it I've only got the white mallard, but it looks nothing like yours, when i'm tying the wings seem to merge at the front and the body isn't long enough, it's so frustrating, I could do with a bit of your magic to help, one day I might succeed. Regards Alan
