Subaru owner was on the wrong side of Kane Creek after some runoff, I helped him across.
His vehicle was not running when we did this.

  • hey dude did it start afterwards coz to my knowledge it doesnt matter if a car is off or on when its underwater

  • @gadgetguy4000 Yes, It fired right up and drove out to Moab

  • I would imagine the car had nothing wrong with it; the owner just didn't want to risk going though and messing up his engine, so he had it towed though. Makes sense.

  • @03SilverMustangGT Correct, The creek was very low when he went through earlier in the day, But with a good rain, It swelled

  • why?

  • Why what? why pull it through or why post it?

  • @imagod00d yea thats the thing with the boxer engine the spark plugs and everything that cannot get wet is down deep and the way i see it is the boxer engine doesnt give you good fording or ease of changing the plugs. And yes you are right about the air because there simply wasnt enough time for the water

  • @gadgetguy4000 Doubt it. The engine pipes still have a lot of displacement (air) that needs to be replaced with water. Plus, the engine pipes on a conventional engine are up high enough that water won't get in there. It's a bit of a different story for this boxer, as the engine pipes are fairly low, but as long as it's not in there for too long, or stopped, it won't be an issue.

  • @dgsblb ya i know all about hydro locking due to some experience :/ anyways a lot of people told me that when a car is turned off, water can get into the exhaust which messes everything up and its just as dangerous to have a vehicle off in water than on but im no einstein in the internal combustion engine i just know how it works thats all :/

  • @gadgetguy4000 New gen Subaru's have different style distributors than most cars. Most cars will shut off or not start if the distributor is wet, so you are partially right. However, the difference is that by shutting off the engine, you are eliminating the possibility of hydro-locking. Had the car been running, it would have sucked up water through the intake and the engine would be ruined.

  • @BIOMIST pulled throw becuse the water level is too high for the car and any smart owner wouldn't neglect his ride pointlessly, don't want to suck water into the engine...if it had been 6 inches sower im sure he sould have just drove through it
