Not everyone has a mommy and daddy who can pay for their skating career Alissa.

It's funny how they're portraying these girls as Olympic contenders, when none of them was even CLOSE to making the team. The producers really stretched the truth with this show. I wish people could appreciate skating for the difficult sport that it is without everything being about "the Olympics." I would still watch a show about skating if they just said the truth, that these are four good skaters struggling to get better.

@xSugarplum lol...smh who said tht to you??

im kinda offended that she said everyones getting jobs and going to school is boring..........she wont b saying that when shes 30 and the only skills she has is skating...then her frirends will b walking out of business meetings, driving past her in their CLKs.......i go to school work, AND skate!! to each is own......

Interesting they don't mention Sarah Hughes who became the olympic champion!

I love skating. Even though Im chubby and probably wont be a figure skater. If I can dream like these girls. Thats good enough for me.

Also funny that at the end of this series Danielle's mom says "I don't know if we can afford for her to keep going..." 4 years later, Danielle is still skating, even though she has zero hope of ever winning Nationals, much less Worlds or the Olympics, meaning this is nothing more for her than a very expensive hobby. Money issues, yeah right.

They paint Danielle's mom as this struggling single parent who doesn't know how to make ends meet. The woman doesn't even work and manages to pay 100 dollars a day for skating alone (that's ice+coaching costs...plus the 1,000 dollars per pair of skates, competition fees, costume fees..). She gets to do nothing but drive her kids around all day and then complain about money? it's's a bit sad she's pictured as this super-mom when she's not the one financially supporting her children.
She's probably talking about the people who go to school, come home and eat and watch TV for 8 hours and then go to sleep and just never accomplish anything. I'm sure she knows that many people are not like that and do have goals (they just probably don't have to do with skating), but there are plenty of people like who I described above too.
