  • Oh, I talked to a Mustang salvage/enthusiast in Louisiana and he said about them being SSP's.He had 1 for sale but it was to far to go get.He also said out of the 300+ stangs he's salvaged, sold, redone, etc he had only ever came across 2-3 others. I'm figuring if all the 5.0 5spd 4bbl GL notches were all SSP's then, there is probably less than 2000.I could be wrong on the number.

  • @rider660r Not all 5.0 notches were SSP cars the 5.0 was an option along with the t-tops. There were NO ttop SSP cars because of regulations plus the light bar had no place to go.

  • Holy Shit.. I never knew they made a notchback T-Top.. Wow.. Any idea if they made them 88+??

  • @RyanShelton63366 The T-top option for the notchback was not offered after 1984. There are some dealer installed ones that were put in at the dealerships or sent to C&C for th conversion. The only problem with them is the VIN and Buck tags say the car did not come that way and they are not "factory" on the car.

  • Absolutely awesome! You have a dream car of mine. fine job brother.

  • @23yroldfox

Thanks, it took me a long time to find this one. I love the fact it is a factory 5.0, 5-speed car, and the t-tops are factory optioned as well.

  • @XBlainerX I found a little info on the '83 GL 5.0,apparently they was supposed to be SSP's. I haven't came across any production #'s of yet tho. Odd thing tho,it wasn't used as a SSP car and was sold to the general public which a guy bought new before my father bought it and then I purchased it off of him. With a little fine tuning I was able to eat up anything until it think '90 or '91.Wish I had the GL back tho.

  • @gtdrummerdude

I am using a roller motor from an 86 but I would need to check the stamping to comfirm that. It's bored over some with a 281 duration comp cam and 10.5:1 Keith black pistons. The transmission is a heavy duty Tremac T-5.

  • Are you using the '83 motor still or did you drop in a later EFI motor? What cam are you using? And what about the trans? SROD or T5?

  • @rider660r I have a 1982 GLX notch 5.0, VERY rare cars, like as rare as a '79 Pace Car pretty much. They made 5,000 GLXs, most of which were 4 or 6 cylinders. I have the 5.0 plus a rare paint code (1P, only 319 Mustang were painted this color in '82) AND the optional '82 GT hood with the scoop that basically no one ordered on a coupe.
