Credits for the great bass go to my piano teacher! Fantastic recording =) Thanks!

This is something totally different than what you are used to from me. Some of you might be curious of what I have been up to the last years. It's this: Jazz =)

This is the fourth year I'm learning Jazz, improvising, etc. Midways, I got a new teacher, and I'm so thankful, because he teached me and really brought me forward a lot in that time. It's lots of fun.

In one piano lesson we went through and prepared "On Green Dolphin Street" for the first time. After one hour he suggested we take a recording of it. The result is this, fully improvised. Surprisingly (for me), I really liked it, and therefore I want to share it with you.

A note on the recording: it's taken off (with microphones) from a grand piano, mixed together with the bass of a synthesizer, played by my teacher. I love the quality!

A question to you: would you like to hear more from Jazz?

Enjoy

  • Great video! I love it. Question: where can I find the sheets?

  • @JoostvdLinden Thanks! There are no sheets. This was played with just the melody and chords of this jazz standard, which you shouldn't have troubles to find.

  • Des is so cool. :)

  • Tom, if you play more jazz, the excitement will give me a heart attack I'll have to be rushed to the ER.

  • I loved it amazing

  • Beautiful Jazz! YES! Thumbs Way Up!

    thank you,

    Tim

  • What is that run at 1:53 ?

  • Great! I've always found important to explore both written music and lead sheet worlds. You greatly improvise the piece, however I think you should vary the left hand, not only do block chords, though it does fit the piece's mood.

  • Great upload! Haven't heard you in some time. Keep up the good work.

  • Wow. I was surprised to see this uploaded by you! Green dolphin street is one of my favorite standards.

Hopefully this year I will finally get around to start uploading songs again to my channel - after 4ish years my playing's changed after all! I'm sure I'll do this tune, in part as a cheers to you mate ;)
