This midibox is not finished , I tested some sounds.
I'm afraid my camera didn't capture the sounds with a good audio quality... this is my first video :-)

  • Thanxx!!! ;D

  • Hi guys!

As the machine had some quirks because the C64 box was too small for the 4SID midibox (the one you see in the video has 4 sid!) , too chaos inside...

So My friend and I made a new one SID midibox with a slightly "retro futuristic appeal"... made of wood and plexyglass ;-)

I will post a video soon.

The midibox of this video is now a ONE SID box... and it rocks without any quirk!

  • yeh for one sid that sounds chunky as always. i got 4 6581's a 6582 and 3 8580's. doing some research i found the #61s are the dirty distorted chips which are good for the more high end noisy sounds and the #62/80's are the bass monsters especially for the 303ish bassline mod. i havnt built a midibox or a synth before so this is going to be fun.. does the midibox sid recognise any combination of sid as ill be using the 62 with the 80?

  • hi!

you've got a good box of sid!!

mine has the 6582 and i can tell you for sure it's a bass monster!

the video isn't that good ,you can only "imagine" the power of the synth..

I've no 6581, only some 8580 and 6582, but I think you can use different sids and as the chip is "hardwired" to a channel you can have your multitimbral multisid that can do great bass on the '80channel and dirty leads with your '61 on another channel.

check the wilba project , it's really advanced :D

  • looking good.. how many sids you got in there? ive just got ahold of 8 sid chips for about £40 wich i think is pretty good

  • Hi :D

this midibox can contain 4 sids, during the test it only had one sid.

8sid for £40 is good, now can build a Wilba with them :D

  • 2:50 *Discovers that the case is a c64*

  • THAT LOOKS COOL!!

  • wow, that deep base sound you got out of it sounded so good.

  • wait u made that it sounds incredible and looks like an instrument the cybermen would use from doctor who :)

  • Hi,

    isn't there a problem with the voltage? 12V (6581) and 9V (8580/6582).

    cheers Yuzo
