Jimmie C. Holland, M.D. holder of the Waynes E. Chapman Chair in Psychiatric Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City is interviewed by John Blamphin former Director of Communications of the American Psychiatric Association at the annual meeting of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. Dr. Holland discusses the recent Institute of Medicine report which advises that all cancer patients be screened for psychosocial distress and be treated for it as needed. She also suggested that a Report Card system be developed to rate all hospitals on how well they do this important task.
