omg there are going to be some coincidences in songs... obviously everyone is attacking coldplay because they made a shitload of money on the song.

I think that, first of all, we should get the exact definition of plagiarism in order to have some solid arguments to discuss with. Nevertheless, one can't deny the similarities between the three songs.

nope, satriana, sorry. you have the first 3 notes-ish, and that's it. let the guitar riff run, and it moves in a completely different direction than viva la vida

We have 12 notes - it's only natural that after music being around for so long that things begin to sound similar by coincidence only, right down to both chord progressions AND melodies. The claims of "Give Satch his money!" etc. are fucking ridiculous. Sorry.

YES. and cat steven should not even be part of this. Melody's are going to be alike but Satch definitely deserve the credit for the melody.
