Because I decided that sometime in my life, I had to remix this song. I felt like it was my responsibility as a Zelda fan to do it.

I did this all by ear, apart from the Link's Awakening section. I added the Link's Awakening section in because it was the first Zelda game I ever played so it only seemed fitting.

Also since Youtube was being buggy not long ago, I don't know if any of you missed my last video. It's an 8 bit VRC6 remix of a Deus Ex song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq8vFqY6XDo

  • Extremely well done. You couldn't have mixed together the original theme and the one from Link's Awakening any better, and nothing sounds crowded or like the tracks are competing with each other, even though you're using VRC6. Favorited.

  • @RossIrving Only channel that has any problems is the Triangle channel but I generally find that to be the most useless channel anyway.

  • wait! why is this like the orginal? also i mean is this a program that use the SNES sound sample?

  • @Tronnus I don't understand your question entirely.

It's using a VRC6 expension chip which was used in famicom games. The famicom is essentially the Japanese version of the NES, main difference being you can add sound expansions into the carts I believe. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Look up the music for the Famicom version of Castlevania 3. It's one of the more notable examples of a game utilizing the VRC6 expansion chip.

  • what software are you using in this it sounds cool

  • @Meatwad188 Famitracker.

  • OMFG!!! awesome!!!!

  • I have only one word for this: Y-E-S !

  • First of all, I must say, this is the best VRC6 remix of any Zelda song I've heard. I've heard plenty of covers and remixes of Zelda music, but rarely any good ones. The use of the sawtooth, VRC6 Square 1 and Square 2 and the addition of PCM samples was really nice. I also must admit that I didn't like the Link's Awakening part at first as it seemed out-of-place, but now I've learned to appreciate it as LA was my first Zelda game too, haha!

Overall, I really like this. Keep it up!

  • levus, you are a genius

  • You know, you can export it to midi and wav, if you gave us a download link for midi...

  • @Levus28 ok now I understand it. Thank you =D
