She lost her heart, that is the condition for a nobody to be created. She lost it on Destiny islands, when she stood in front of the door and was pushed back by the darkness. She disappears when Sora wants to catch her, I think :o

@naruhinafan4ever1 Technically, kairi did lose her heart remember? that was the whole reason sora stabbed hiself to save her, a person without a heart becomes a heartless, but that doesnt apply to kairi since she is one of the princess of heart, her shell was left there and the residue of her heart fading made namine ^_^
