Yeah, obama made his money producing intellectually valuable material. McCain made his by funneling federal money to the companies he owns stock in. And lobbyist gifts, don't forget that. It's not John McCain's fault that his party runs on pseudo anti-elitism, but he could leave the party - and then promptly lose any election he enters. That's an ethical decision he could make.

I give up. If you insist, he must be elite. But even if he actually is elite, he didn't use this status to avoid the service or extended torture in Hanoi or the Senate. Even if McCain is an elite, he's the kind of elite you can count on and trust in.
