The video that launched the current "Japanese Necktie" craze in American no-gi jiu-jitsu.

This tutorial is several years old, and as far as I know, no one taught or utilized the "Japanese Necktie" before this. I could be wrong, though.

I don't speak Japanese, but I left the original audio on in case someone out there wants to translate it. It shouldn't really be necessary; if you play/study no-gi jiu-jitsu, you shouldn't have a hard time following along. Aoki is a very visual instructor.

Enjoy!

  • Beautiful! I love the Japanese attention to detail and the ample repititions. Traditional martial arts style. Would love to be in his class.

It's no wonder why this guy is one of the best in the world! Very entertaining and creative fighter too...

  • can't understand him, it's like he's speaking a different language or something.

  • Three Quarter Nelson from Overleg Ride. When did this become Japanese?

  • Check out Shinya's giant feet.

  • @blackenese73 me too, they look like somthing out of the "running man"!

  • @fawyoshinator01

You know what, he propably would! But Japanese people sound stjupid.

  • @MrAlala911 he'd probably tap you out in a milisecond

  • @Darumpshaka I was just saying that it's more like a Peruvian than a D'arce.

  • @SASAussie It is not the same grip or arm hold as a Peruvian. Its the opposite. Its not easier or harder, its a different move. It depends on the person applying and the person it is applied to. Not trying to argue, just trying to make things clear. Thanks.

  • Necktie or not, Japanese people sound stjupid.
