Tilting German Ice Train

In order to offer shorter journey times combined with tried-and-tested ICE comfort and convenience on such routes too, DB introduced the ICE with tilting technology (ICE T) on 30 May 1999. This system, which has been in successful operation in Italy for decades, means that the train tilts inwards by up to 8° when travelling through curves, in much the same way as a motor cyclist. This allows it to travel at 30% higher speed in curves. Needless to say, this does not in any way impair safety or comfort for the passengers.

why dont they just set up curved tracks like a roller coster. that way theu can go a 100 miles on a bank and all u feel is the chair eating you alive

very interesting concept.

I once read in the big book of train models that these Tilt class trains do use the most sophisticated suspension tilting system unlike any common train around todays 21st century world now form watching this i think this has just pointed out many other problems facing some of the less developed nations such as Huston Texas, Great Brittan and ofc here in Australia.
