My Dad served with the 57th FG, 64th fighter squadron throughout his time in WWII which was from the 2/July/42 thru 16 Aug 45: in Sicily, Rome, No Africa,Alto, Corsica, Libya, the Balkans, So. France plus as the narrator states "58 moves in 2 years".
Commissioned a major in the U.S. Army Air Corps, Wyler flew actual combat missions while making the classic documentaries, "The Memphis Belle" (1943) and "Thunderbolt" (1944). His courage while filming under extreme and life-threatening conditions (on one flight, Wyler passed out from lack of oxygen; on another, his cinematographer, Harold J. Tannenbaum, was shot down and perished during filming) earned him an Air Medal - and promotion to Lieutenant Colonel.

@ DanBell47:
I agree, except the P-47 had a Pratt & Whitney R2800, not a Wright. Wright was a competing engine manufacturer.
