Vladimir is a lovely one-year-old deaf ferret. I rescued him from an abusive situation (he'd been obviously struck in the face as he was terrified of hands and lashed out when you got too close to him). He was really not a tough case. All he needed was love, and plenty of patience. Within a month, he was not afraid of me, and within another month, he wasn't afraid of anybody else either.

He's extraordinarily playful and sweet, especially with my dog, Bandit (Lab/Pit mix).

I'm looking into adopting another deaf ferret so he'll have a companion as fuzzy and springy as he is - and I simply LOVE ferrets. They are INCREDIBLE little animals.

EDIT: He has a buddy now! Another deaf ferret who's VERY fat; his name is Sebastian.

  • im gonna adopt a ferret soon and one of the ferrets that caught my eye is deaf too. :] is it hard caring for a deaf ferret?

  • No, it isn't hard at all. Most owner-guardians don't know the ferret is deaf until they realize the ferret doesn't respond to loud noises.

  • he looks like an albino animal?

    but still cool

  • Yes, helloldui, he's albino. :3

  • He sure is sweet. I miss my albino ferret. One day I will get another, but i have 5 ferrets right now, so not really allowed anymore.

  • God work, we've also 2 ferrets from a shelter. Both had their issues aso but over time they've become trusting playfull ferrets. Only the male is still not to keen on women..

  • sometime pet is deaf person didnt know it none fault ..i am deaf too...people thought i am hearing then they notice me use sign language..no different with deaf animals.

  • Glad to know you're taking such good care of the little one. Thanks for being a good person!

  • you know, i've never been really interested in ferrets until now, because that's a very adorable looking creature there. i'm glad you adopted him; if you hadn't adopted him... well, i'd hate to think of him not having a loving, supportive owner.

    ohman.

kinda want to get myself a ferret now.

    (:

  • The world needs more people like you, HoS777.
