I know no one will beleave me, but my step father and his friend where the original writers of this song. They live in a small town near Hazard, KY. I don't know the whole story of how the Statler brothers wound up with this song, I will ask my mom for more information. The man who originaly wrote this song his name is Boyd Holland and it is about his mother who died in his arms when he was just 16. Her name was Dorkas Holland. She is barried way back up in the hills of Fisty, KY . ;

This is the frist song I can rember My dad sing, There was 9 boys, and I can rember hearing them sing every Sunday on the radio. Would love to here Him sing again. RIP DAD. Thanks for the post. It was a Blessing
