The Book of Mormon claims to be "a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible." Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon declare themselves to be ancient, historical, and reliable rules of faith--the very word of God.
These claims have historically been taken on faith. But is there any evidence to support them one way or the other? Is it even possible to "test" a rule of faith? More to the point, is there any basis for placing one's faith in the Bible or the Book of Mormon?
It's an important question. It's an eternal question. This presentation puts the Bible and the Book of Mormon to the same tests. History, archaeology, textual criticism, and other disciplines combine to shed light on what is true...and what is false.
Truth never fears investigation. Faith need not--and should not--be blind. Discover for yourself which of these books is worthy of being called "scripture" and which is worth of your trust.
Participants: Thomas W. Murphy, William Wilson, Philip Lindholm, Philip Johnston, Peter Williams, Simon Gathercole, Gabriel Barkay, and others.
@stuartsc01 now lets pick where we left off before your temper tantrum. Joseph Smith is an adulterer by his actions as defined by Jesus. Jesus said in Matthew 19:4 If anyone divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness and marries another woman commits adultery". This is just one reason why Joseph Smith is the false prophet and Jesus is the Good Shepard and we follow Jesus voice. This is why followers of Jesus Christ do not have this problem. Jesus is light and love, Joseph, shame.

stuarts, It was for purposes of being thought provoking and an appeal to the conscious. I understand why mormons HAVE to date within their own faith, but i believe its still a form of prejudice to exclude others for this reason. .

@TheSoulamore..... When Mormons make a decision to date only other Mormons, is that prejudice?
.
Excuse my two cents but....why would that be prejudice? Many people date within their faith, race and/or ethnic group.

@bereanbeone..... Then you must not have read what Jesus said about the circumstance of re-marriage.
.
I'm a pretty easy going guy but.... nothing pisses me off more than some arrogant asshole who doesn't even know me tries to tell me what I believe or what I've read.

.
What an arrogant statement... Read Matthew 19:9 Luke 16:18.

@stuartsc01 you say "then Christians who remarry after divorce are not Christians either". Then you must not have read what Jesus said about the circumstance of re-marriage. Jesus speaks about this too. I will look it up for you later today, it is really easy to find. I am catch in a project now.

@bereanbeone.... I can understand how you would want to avoid that conversation and try to change the subject,...since following Him is what makes a person a Christian.
.
I'm not changing the subject....I'm expanding on it. If Polygamy (adultery) is part of what you believe keeps Mormons from being Christians..... then Christians who remarry after divorce are not Christians either.
.
