Hunters are Heartless, Aren't They??? Hurt Bird (Cormerant) Hooked

Hunters, Fisherman Outdoorsman, we're all murderers, thats what they say. We don't help, we kill. We don't care, we harm. Saw this water bird with a hook in its neck at Calaveras Lake in Texas. Damn fool bird had a fish hook imbeded in its throat but was coming after my bait on my hook. Bait was hard to find that day, at first I just wanted to get that bait out!!! After awhile it was evident the bird wasn't leaveing so I caught him and removed the hook that was in the bone of his neck. I'm not sure I did the right thing, removing the hook could have harmed him more. As it is, he was suffering and in pain, but, all turned out ok. So remember Anti Hunters, Animal Rights..ect...we may kill, but that doesn't mean we are heartless. -dnahoghunter

The hunters I've known in my rural community all have a healthy respect for the things they hunt to eat - they understand fish spawn cycles, they know what animals are abundant or which shouldn't be killed that season, etc. Anyone who's called you heartless needs to do some research into how the majority of animals are handled in the meat industry...hunting is most certainly more humane. I applaud your compassion, I'm sure your cormorant thanks you too!
