Turkish invasion of Cyprus 1974 "The asphalt on the roads has cracked in the warm sun and along the sidewalks bushes are growing.
The breakfast tables are still set, the laundry still hanging and the lamps still burning. Famagusta is a ghost-town."

The city of Famagusta is currently controlled by the Turkish.

  • why can't people go back in?...it's over right?

  • I don't know what's more heinous - the Turkish invasion that led to this, or the fact they've done NOTHING with this beautiful city (or for that matter, any part of Northern Cyprus) in the years since. It's hilarious how well the southern Cypriots do and how poor the northernmost part is.

  • Greedy greeks lost everything
