rat sneezing

This video was from when i first got my ratties ! they were all really sick and constantly sneezing. I'll never get rats from petsmart again.

Update: I bought a ferret nation for my rats. the only bedding they have is in their potty bowl. this has worked out GREAT. my rats turned out to be allergic to all bedding except for Yesterdays News which i just use as their toilet litter. Using old towels in their cages instead of Carefresh or any other litter has been awesome for their health :)

I just got a rat and she's been sneezing and stuff so I'm super worried. so in the description, you're saying your rat was allergic to the bedding? because I have that rainbow bedding, carefresh I think. she was sneezing at the store, too, and I think they use the same stuff. I'm waiting to see if its just her nose getting used to my house like my mom says

@caloogster I suggest that you buy towels to place in her cage instead. They sell them at the dollar store and they would be less messy than carefresh. Hope your ratty gets well!

i got 2 rats last week, both dumbos and one is albino, his been pretty much sneezing constantly i took him back to pets @ home and made their vet check him =/ if the lungs and such are clear, its just a short course of antibiotics called baytril. just keep an eye onit. Also deffinately agree with oreztar

@SyntheticBiohazard Baytril didn't work for any of my rats unfortunately. The vet only gave me enough for two weeks and they were still sick. Because he didn't give me enough to make sure their infection was truly gone they stayed sick and became immune to baytril and other similar medicines. Make sure your vet gives you enough for at least 3 wks so you know for sure they'll get better. Hope your ratties get better!

My rat i recently got is about the same but that gray area is brown , and he's been sneezing alot too . Just right now he was sneezing like 8 times so i searched this video

you can use a kind of fleece-ish fabric for bedding! thats what i use for my babies, along with a litter box. Just so they're not on just the cold cage.. (:  they're cheap and u can just throw them in the wash!

When you first bring a rat home it with have New Home Sneezes it should go away in a week or so. Its just their way of getting used to all the new smells.
