Hybrid Trucks. Full-size pickup trucks have to be versatile. In addition to transporting their passengers, they also need to tow and haul heavy loads. This makes designing a hybrid gasoline-electric drivetrain for such vehicles more challenging than designing a system for a passenger car. General Motors hybrid vehicle expert Stephen Poulos tells Kelley Blue Book how his company was able to accomplish this feat in the just-announced Chevrolet Silverado hybrid, plus he outlines other GM hybrid initiatives. • GM is really getting better

  • Great idea. That's why Toyota didn't think of it. In the reel world everybody can't fit into a shoe box. Show me another hybrid that can tow 6,000 lbs and get 20 mpg.

  • i think that this is badass and quite bitching about mpgs if you want a truck there ment for working hard who cares if they burn more gas you get your job done stop bitching

  • How does extreme snow and mud affect the electronic components? I have always wanted a Truck but I live in NYC and for me that means empty pockets at the pump, until now. I'm totally sold on the GM Sierra hybrid but my buddies are convinced that in extreme snow or mud the electronic system when met with moisture and dirt will make for headache. Also hypothesized is that in the long run the battery and electric components will be financially burdensome. Pleas shed some light on these concerns.

  • "...electric motor with a belt drive with a lithium ion battery.. those will be going in a whole lot of places"

The public finaly gets what it wants but it took a bankruptsy and tax payer bailout to get there. : )

  • can't wait for a hybrid hummer that gets 11mpg up from original 7mpg

  • it is a god damn hybrid

    excape hybrid can do 30-34

  • It's pretty good for a truck... but yeah, they're pissing everyone off... they can do better ._.

  • 20-21 is pathetic
