Maybe the LS1 driver couldn't drive, maybe it had 155k miles on it and has seen better days.. The LS1 is over a decade old (97 corvette). There are many factors that come into play.. My point is LS1 F-bodies are low 13 second cars. Although peppy, FWD LS4 family sedans are not. You can't argue with that. Do research, read reviews, and find out for yourself. Look at your other video. See the LS1 walking that LS4 Monte? Your own videos completely answered your question, you didn't need me.

if the firebird is only running a 13.9 then it un moddified and the owner cant drive. and if the monte is running 13.8's its modified. any car can beat any car. but look at it this way, you can mod them both but in the end the monte is still front wheel drive.

yea the firebird didnt get a good launch, you can hear it when they take off, good race though, go monte go

wow... alot of dumb comments on this vid... first off the monte is front wheel drive the f body is rear wheel. that fact alone gives a major edge to the f body. the monte may have a little more hp but it can't put the power to the pavement like the rear wheel drive f body. spinning isn't winning its all in the drivers in this vid

@666hades666 Sorry, but you're wrong on a few points here. First off the 2007 Monte Carlo is a luxury coupe, 2 door, not a sedan. Secondly the LS4 is a very underrated engine, 0-60 times on the 2007 Monte Carlo SS with the LS4 are about 5.7 seconds, 0-60 times on the 2002 Trans Am are 5.3 or 5.7 with an automatic. At this point it's so close that other factors come into play, reaction time, tire specs, shifting on the Firebird (if it was manual). Just give the Monte Carlo it's due respect. =)

is da monte stock?

Look up the power differences in the 2002 Camaro Z28 and Camaro SS, then the Firebird Formula, and Firebird Trans AM, pretty sure it's 10-15HP difference.

I highly doubt a ram air hood is going to affect HP like that adding 15 HP?? So it keeps the engine a little cooler but you are not going to see gains like that.
-
ok i guess you do not know how to read the tittle where it clearly says Ls1 right???? and the ls1 is the v8 in the ponitac gosh how dumb are you fool????

Actually, the 1999 Firebird Formula came with the the LS1 engine that put 305 horsepower down, the TA would put down 315 or 320 because of the ram air hood. The Monte Carlo SS came with the LS4 engine, putting out 303HP. The firebird is a lighter car, but the Monte Carlo has more torque to the wheels.
the monte carlo 13.8 and the Firebird 13,9 and my camera is a kodak canon 530
