Erm.. actually, I have the original scores.. It says something like (translation from chinese to english by me): 'Soldiers marching in the distance' (probably on patrol around the camp), 'arrival of the emperor', 'night falls, soldiers weep' etc.

No fighting involved. =X

the beginning actually 'represents' the footsteps (olden days, during war, they put their ears to the ground to determine how far their enemies are from them) of the warriors as they charge from faraway to the frontline to fight with their enemies. then the music gets louder and anticipation escalates, then BOOM, they fight, war starts and the piece gets even faster. and louder.
