In this video Jewel uses a lot of charisma techniques that Juggler teaches (or uses himself.

-Good body language.
-Good Story telling.
-Good direction change.
-Engages (compliments)people before they ask questions.

*0-3 sec: rewards audience for applause.
{
*3-7 sec: the guy says "Hi Jewel, I'm Michael." Pay attention to how she responds by saying "Hi" The tone and crispness in her delivery, in that one syllable is a small but powerful reward.
{
*7-10 seconds The guy is lavishing her with praise. She amplifies the excitement at 10 seconds with an enthusiastic "yeah!"
{
*at around 20 seconds she says "I never dreamed big" (this is a form of disqualification).
{
*At around 26 seconds she transitions to her story about Bob Dylan. At first she dosen't relate to the question. Then she cuts back the other direction and says: "I did have a dream once..." I like that transition to a story.
{
*At about 43 seconds she contradicts somebody, but recovers by rewarding with the comment "good memory"
{
*At about 50 seconds she says: "but there is more to the story" I like this suspense technique.
{
*At around 1:53 she does a Bob Dylan imitation. I like imitations as long as they are not mocking. For me its a fine line and she pulls it off.
{
*At around 2:13 she comes full circle and starts talking about the three questions again. This is the signal that she is wrapping up. She is "picking up the thread" and tying it off. Imo this is guiding an interaction at its best.
}
*At around 2:37 He says "you are super awesome" She could disqualify that, but it would prolong the interaction. She wants to tie it up. So she tightens the "end knot" of the thread with appropriate sized reward by saying "Thanks super much."
{
*At about 2:25 She says hi! and makes an immediate connection with the woman in the audience. She does that by giving her a little authority/reward. She draws attention to the woman's necklace with a compliment.
{
*At about 2:55 she hears the question then she makes a joke "Can't you tell by my big hair?"
{
*Then at about 2:58 she cuts back and begins a transition to another story: "No, I forgot, I have had fantasies..."
{
*At about 3:10 she disqualifies when she says that she needs "some stuffing"

  • Yeah, all of this is called FRIENDLY CONVERSATION. But I guess it's all black magic to some socially challenged people.

  • Its supposed to sound like friendly conversation. Maybe its not black magic. Though I do believe its an art. I hope you have a nice day.

  • Haha, that is because it IS friendly conversation. Since it's pretty much innate in most people, I wouldn't call it an art. Unless you would call walking, eating or sleeping and art as well.

  • I am "socially challenged", what's wrong with that? Maybe you can help some of us "socially challenged" people out. We could probably learn a lot from you!

  • those are some bad techniques... its very acting. be real and have voice of power. thats a better

  • @nashlonnigan aspergers aspergers aspergers aspergers!!!!!!! xD

  • I think whoever made this video has more issues than Time magazine.

  • And in addition, she didnt just answer questions abt herself. She was also interested in ppl's life, asked us questions abt what we did, where we lived etc. She s really adorable and down to earth. Somewhat like roger federer. Very talented and humble.

  • She did the same kinda thing the 2 times we went to her concerts

  • Hey everyone. Well we dont care abt the subject of that conversations. All we see, my husband and i who re huge fans of her, is that 1. She s a true artist with ALL the required skills and 2. She s way down to earth, she s close to her audience, she talks to them and laughs with em. Who does that in the mainstream commercial music industry? But hey, jewel is not mainstream she s a true artist.

  • @quathar LMBO!@ blk magic to socially challanged people

  • If youre socially challenged ,stop fucking analysing everything and have fun ,thats whats make you fail, its really disturbing how you broke that down into segments it's just human interaction plain and simple BTW she has tons of charisma.

  • charisma isnt a step by step process to learn and execute...charisma is passion and genuinely caring. Caring about an individual one on one and not just as a whole. caring about the topic. And showing that intense caring as passion. To teach charisma you need to teach passion and idealism, not "step right - compliment audience member, pivot 45 degrees - make witty joke". The only real kind of charisma is real charisma. Not store bought.

  • @kurt9876543210 oh you noticed Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus all these artist nowadays really don't have any charisma! Michael Jackson too didn't t ihave before the Thriller album kinda like the same with Hitler had no Charisma but take through a series of occult rituals he became to have presence and started to be taken seriously! I think he was possessed bu that's the occult way of achieving it and not through God i.e Natural way like Elvis! peace m8

  • @rezultwilliam most things that are natural you can get it in its taught or artificial forms as well! ;)
