  • While I am thrilled that this video was made and is being shown, I do hope that someday, someone makes a film about being a congenital anosmic, as it is a totally different experience. Kudos on a very nice video.

  • i'm glad someone has finally uploaded a video on youtube about anosmia! unlike you, i've had it all my life, it's called congenital anosmia instead of just anosmia.

  • soooo over dramatic! just be happy your alive, there's much worse out there! I lost my sense of smell but I'm counting my blessings... the sense of smell is the least important of the 5 senses! :)

  • Born without it!

  • "Can you taste things as well???"

    YES, I CAN TASTE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have congenital anosmia and like people have said in some other comments it is a different experience than those who become anosmic later in life so I couldn't identify with everything that was said in the video. That being said, thank you for addressing one of the biggest misconceptions about anosmia (congenital or otherwise) and that is that people with anosmia generally can taste foods. I know there are some that can't but from what I've heard most can.

  • i know this video is old but just recently i was in a skate boarding accident.. hit a patch of sand and hit my head... woke up in the hospital with a fractured skull and a severe concussion.. next couple days i didnt eat much so i didnt realize how serious it was.... a week or two later i realized that i couldnt taste anything nor could i smell... its now been 6 weeks and i still cant... doctor says it could come back within six months but it doesnt seem like it...

  • @lizhantilmag .... im the same way, it will be a year next month that i lost my smell. i thought i would always remember the major sents like the ocean, a fresh cut lawn, or camp fire, but its been so long i can't even remember those now.

  • Thank you for this video! I have been anosmic my whole life. People don't realize the huge handicap it can be. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people tell me I'm lucky I can't smell, or when they assume that I can't taste. People always tell me "well, since you can't taste food..." or "You can eat this nasty stuff because you can't taste it anyway." I didn't know that it could be lost due to a bad cold, though. Thanks once again!
