  • Hi...any idea as to why my cake turns out coarse and grainy after baking..i use the creaming

method to make a butter cake..Tks Anna

  • @flower8477 Whenever a cake doesn't turn out, you need to first look at the ingredients you used. Did you use real butter? Some people use margarine as a substitute, but it doesn't act the same as butter in all recipes. Was your baking powder old? If so, the chemicals in it won't work as well. Did you over beat the batter? In a pound cake you don't want a lot of air; you mix just until combined. -Cindy

  • Hi...how do one bake this cake without eggs

    Gayatri Johnston

  • @Gayatridasi1 You might be able to use an egg substitute, or try using some silken tofu instead of the eggs, I've never done it myself, but if you give it a try, let me know how it turns out! -Cindy

  • Hi i was trying to make a plain vanilla cake , i added full eggs [didnt seperate the whites and yolk] but my cake came out brown like a brownie inside and outside, even though i added white sugar , not a brown one. could you suggest me On how to make a plain vanilla cake?! [pale yellow coloured

  • @duresabih Try my "Strawberry Cupcake" recipe on my 'Cupcake Show' podcast. Use all the same ingredients for the cupcakes, except the first 2: fresh strawberries + 2T. sugar. If you leave those out, you will have the vanilla cake you're looking for. Bake it at the same temperature, but for a few extra minutes. (Cupcakes take less time to bake than regular cakes.) Test the cake with a toothpick inserted in the center and if it comes out clean, it's baked through. Good luck! -Cindy
