I think Zack is older than that...I was with him at the First Annual Philadelphia Music Awards in October 1987...and he told me he was 72 back then!

John Zacherle was without a doubt the funniest thing that ever happened on TV. I was up every Thurs. and Fri. nights as a kid glued to my black and white TV set in the NYC suburb of Yonkers for "Shock Theater" in the day and I have the four kinescoped epasodes in CD. The Philadelphia sutff was better because thay gave him a better stage to work with. I remember seeing the "Operation Mole Hole" skit when it aired and the "Il Draculari" opera has Zach at his all time best. I'd like More Kinescopes

I was on Zacherle's Disc-O-Teen with my band Lady and the Tramps! John was fabulous, and it was one of the greatest shows to be a part of. Saw him again many years later walking near Central Park.. same funny guy even without the makeup. Great memories.

I'm old enough to remember the westerns broadcast live from WCAU on City Line Avenue in Philadelphia in the afternoon. Later Roland was a Friday night staple on WCAU. He introduced me to all the classics. My father, who did occasional modeling work at WCAU and was a founder of the Philadelphia Model's Guild, introduced him to me at the station once - I must have been about 8 years old, And I had an autographed Roland Fan Club membership card for years. I enjoyed this tribute.

I watched him every saturday on @WOR tv during my 5th grade year in Hicksville LI 1960-1961. No wonder why I got my jr. nhigh basketball team to sign a letter I sent to Sh9ock Armstrong (WTVT Tampa FL) several years later. Zacherle was a huge part of my "zombie consciousness". Last time I saw him (doing "the mating of the amoebas) was on Tom Snyder's Tomorrow program in the late 70's.
