MATTHEW BOURNE'S NUTCRACKER RETURNS TO SADLER'S WELLS FOR 2011!

http://www.sadlerswells.com/show/New-Adventures-Matthew-Bournes-Nutcracker

One of the most popular dance productions ever staged in the UK, Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker! returns to Sadler's Wells for Christmas 2011 to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a limited seven week run.
This delicious theatrical feast has family-sized helpings of Matthew Bourne's trademark wit, pathos and magical fantasy. Nutcracker! follows Clara's bittersweet journey from a hilariously bleak Christmas Eve at Dr. Dross' Orphanage, through a shimmering, ice-skating winter wonderland to the scrumptious candy kingdom of Sweetieland.

Tchaikovsky's glorious score performed by a live orchestra and Anthony Ward's unforgettable sets and costumes combine with sizzling choreography to create a fresh and charmingly irreverent interpretation of the traditional Christmas favourite.

Hailed by The Observer as "the undisputed king of dance theatre", Matthew Bourne's company New Adventures has produced some of the most successful dance productions of the last two decades including Swan Lake, Edward Scissorhands and last year's sell-out hit, Cinderella.

  • I actually like this on better because there's a story the whole way through, and it's original and interesting. you don't have to get it, and you're totally entitled to your own opinions, but that doesn't mean it's a DISGRACE to the Nutcracker Ballet.

    It's just a new adventure. :)

  • ive studied ballet and modern jazz for 10 years im 16 years old and ive cant believe ive just come across this its perfect! just shows you that ballet doesnt have to be all pointe shoes and pain. • this is not my favorite nutcracker, because it's not the true meaning of ballet. it would be a good 80's musical with no words, but keep the good acting skills and effort

  • had to watch this in school it was pretty good

  • Ah, this remindes me of cirque crossed with mark morris as far as the costuming goes. looks kind of neat as long as its done well, I see too much contemporary dance in theater for my tastes, and dont like all its minimal costuming, have not seen this on tv yet on ovation channel though so I will have to check it out.

  • It looks gay

  • all show and no tell...

  • im learning about this for my GCSE dance and I have to do dances from it. I just need to know more about the choreographer, Matthew Bourne
