  • I disagree with the statement that the NIV takes away from the deity of Jesus. Compare

NIV: Romans 9:5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen

KJV 5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen

If anything the KJV takes away from the deity of Jesus. So the NIV is easier to read and understand & doesn't take away from Jesus' diety.

  • In the KJV, 1 Timothy 3:16 says "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."

NIV says, "Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory."

    Replaces "God" with "he".

  • Time to switch to a contempary translation such as the NIV. It is easier to read and understand.

  • No thanks. Been there, done that.

The modern versions change and delete words/verses that take away from the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Wow I misspellled mongness, lol..it is 11:30..lol sheww wee I need to hit the bed.

  • Understand the KJV was rendered from the roots of the "B" text, and the NIV from the "A" text. Both texts are Good, and we should be thankfull we have them both rendered into English. See Mark 16:16s notes in the Niv Study.

The "A" text in JN1:18 (backbone of the NIV) it has "mongness theos (begotten God) while the "B" has "monognees huios (begoten Son)"

So some sects has picked and choosed to try to delete the deity of Christ, but boath texts conferm it over and over ;-)

  • Praise God for his word! Amen!
