Congressman Steve King: Stop Bilingual Ballots

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) is the hero of Americans for his courageous stand in 2006 to fight bilingual ballots during the Voting Rights Act reauthorization. A requirement of becoming a citizen is English proficiency, yet bi-lingual ballots encourage illiteracy in English by those who have or plan to become citizens.

Any public institution should use ONLY English, it's ridiculous too that people can register to vote in five languages.

If the have government forms in other languages then there should be a charge for those forms. It is WRONG for Americans to have to pay for special non-english forms for those that are either to ignorant, stupid, or lazy to learn the language of the land which they live.

I moved to Germany with the intent to return to the United States within five years. The first thing I did was take a class in German. I only speak German with Germans and do not insist they learn English. If I could learn German than people coming to my beloved United States (for which I spent six years in the Army ready to defend) can take the time to learn English.
