  • No plans available for mechanics, I have elect. schems. The pwr. window motor is mounted in the cabinet back center, with a 3 1/2" garage door pulley attached to it. The steel wire is connected to the left and right side of the pulley, extending laterally to the back L&R corners where a screen door roller mounted to the inside top cabinet guides it to the front side mounted screen door roller then directs it to the door and attaches. Various switches and relays were used to operate the door.

  • This will be featured in Electronic House special edition book on sale June 10' which also features other cool home audio and theater systems.

  • @contemporaryrose Very nice. I really want to get my component equipment into the mantel exactly as you have it, whether I do the motorized door or not; I guess my primary concern is how much space do I have behind the drywall if I go there, is there masonry behind it (fireplace was built with a gas stub in place, but built to be wood-burning with 2-story chimney flue, etc), potential heat concerns regarding the equipment and fire usage (gas logs now), etc. Well, again - nicely done!

  • Wow, I'm wanting to do *exactly* this at my home, but not sure I have the skills, haha - you wouldn't happen to have any plans or guides for doing this kind of thing, would you?

  • Just stumbled across this. That's incredibly cool and an awesome way to set that up! Adding it as a favorite for future reference for ideas...

  • Thats Awesome! Wish I could do this but I have a traditional fireplace and don't have the depth to do it.
