  • Obamacare will exaggerate the physician deficit by discouraging individuals from pursing this noble science with rationing of salaries. Additionally, the bill has built in racial quotas for physicians and healthcare workers - this is disastrous for building our numbers of skilled physicians by limiting them by race!

My brother in law after a visit to his cardiologist needed triple bypass surgery - a day later he the surgery occurred - how long would the wait be in Canada??

  • In this country, surgery is rationed. It is rationed by the number of doctors like John Barrasso who are available. There arent enough to go around. So you wait, and wait. Even if it is serious. We need about 25,000 doctors a year at least, just to keep up. But we only graduate about 16,000. That is controlled by the American Medical Associationthe doctors themselves.

  • A study at SHEA in 2007 revealed how dangerous rationing can be at the bedside. A medical device caused increased CVC BSI's in hospitals in the US and countries with government controlled healthcare. Hospitals in the US were able to independently monitor and remove the device when the problem was discovered - an Australian hospital in the NHS was not able to do so when this problem occurred. The hospital had no autonomy in selecting or removing patient care devices. Rationing is bad medicine!
