Polished Chrome Text in Photoshop CS4

i have rasterized the type, and added the gaussian blur, but when i go to filter/render i cant select the lighting effects button. its all grey. any help? and yes, i did select rasterize type

make sure you have the text layer that you rasterized selected. i know it seems like a silly error, but it happens to me all the time.

make sure your working in RGB, lighting effects will only work in the 8bit rgb
