http://www.caryellis.com Get FR*EE Guide to Healing Your Body Naturally! Hi this is Cary Ellis outdoors at the Rocky Mountains on a beautiful spring day. People always ask me what the cure for flu is, how to get rid of flu, and how to treat flu naturally.
It's really good to know what natural home remedies are to keep us healthy and help us get well from the flu. People often think of the old fashioned saying, "Starve a cold, feed a fever". That saying actually is: "Starve a cold lest you feed a fever," which means when you have a cold or flu symptoms, a great thing to do is to cleanse in order to "starve your cold or flu."
An excellent start is to drink vegetable juices and herbal teas with plenty of warm fluids throughout the day. Avoid fluids with a lot of sugar content. If you bought fruit juice from the store make sure there is no sugar or high fructose corn syrup added. Dilute it with a bit of water so that it's not too strong, and be sure to drink water in between.
Best fluids are warm water or herbal tea with a little lemon juice or plain. In order to get our system cleansed, we want to make sure that the intestinal tract is moving and consider adding flaxseed or flaxseed meal to the diet. Natural grown flaxseed is available in supermarkets these days especially in the specialty food section. You may want to keep these in the refrigerator. Add to juice or shake, 1-2 teaspoons per day, or sprinkle over a light meal such as salad or rice and vegetables.
Cleansing, flushing the system, eating a little bit lighter, and staying off dairy products (which can be congesting) is important. Dairy products are the natural food for an infant of a species, but once we are adults they can be very mucous forming, and contribute to conditions in which a cold or flu can start. When fighting sickness, we want to decrease congestion in any way we possible, so minimizing dairy products is essential. Lightening up our diet, cleansing, plenty of fluids, making sure that the intestinal tract is being cleaned out are all part of basic lifestyle habits that will protect us from getting sick, and help us get well when colds and flu occur.
When these lifestyle habits are followed, you'll be amazed at how often you can stay well when others are sick around you. This is an eseential foundation for wellness, that we can then add herbal remedies, fresh air, sunshine, plenty of rest to accelerate the process of getting and staying well.
