  • I’m from the “Woo Fai Ching” family 2nd Generation Yip Man student; he started his training in the early 50’s more like in 1953 and he never promoted himself at all, born into money no need to, I train in wing chun for 32 years and learned the pole form well over 20 years ago from one of my teachers old students ‘ Fong Dook’…

  • Hey Alirahim, Nice pole form. Almost identicle to the form I learned from master Kwok. Which lineage are you from?

  • @jasma98 Look closely at more pole forms just as your form; there is only two maybe three different movements that other Hong Kong families uses, in which I find very odd, when Yip Man himself never taught the form…

  • @alirahim1 I have noticed this. Master Kwok learned his pole form from Ip Ching who I assume learned from his father? I will ask him next time I see him. This is an interesting point you raise. Perhaps if Ip Man himself never taught the form (openly) it could have been one of his students who developed and taught it? Maybe Wong Shueng Leung?

  • @jasma98 You hit it right on the nose, after Leung Sheung ‘Wong Sheung ‘Leung took over the classes, he taught the pole, but not in a group setting just as Yip did with the Pat Chum Tao, only a hand full learned that form as well and most Yip Man Student don’t even teach the weapon forms at all….

My sifu said year’s ago (late 70’s) the pole form within the Yip Man family only came about through curiosity and a need to feel complete, and I have no problem with that…

  • 9-foot pole that weights 10lb.
