May I recommend one of Gores novels 'Creation'. Great read of ancient political intrigue.

@ LordMalice (Cool name btw) - I see your distinction, but in my opinion, anyone who's content to remain ignorant in an age where knowledge and information is more readily available than at any time in human history is - STUPID. Clearly, almost everyone who WANTS to learn to read is capable of doing so, excepting of course those of us with severe learning difficulties. Being illiterate nowadays is in many, if not most, cases a choice; there are adult learning programs available, after all.

@LordMalice6d9 They're not stupid. They're lazy. There's a difference between being stupid and being uneducated. The mass media doesn't cater the the loudest. They cater to the things the few super-rich who own them, want them to.
The whole system has been backwards, upside down and inside out for so long that most American's just believe what they hear on the news and don't investigate any further. Too much TMZ to watch, I guess.

I for one do not believe that the majority of Americans are really AS stupid as people say. Its just that the stupidest segments of the population of America are usually the loudest and get the most media exposure.

Obama is smart enough to know to do the bidding of his major campaign contributors (ie. Wall St.)
He's also smart enough to know how to sell out his constituency to his campaign contributors.
What good is a constituency if you can't sell them out to the highest bidder?
