Narrated by Truman Capote himself, this Emmy award-winning television version of Capote's "A Christmas Memory" is a faithful recreation of his wonderful short story (first published in Mademoiselle in 1956, later published in book form).
It appeared on ABC Stage 67 in December of 1966. Starring Geraldine Page as Sook and Donnie Melvin as Buddy. Adapted for television by Capote and Eleanor Perry. Directed by Frank Perry.

Is this the rip from the "ABC Stage 67" DVD that's on Amazon? I want to buy my mom this copy for Christmas, but reviewers on Amazon are saying that it's horrible quality. If this is the quality of it, I'm sold.. Looks great to me. Thanks for the upload, Merry Christmas! :)

Don't hold me to this in a court of law, but yes, I'm 99.44% sure it's a digital copy of the VHS (thus the whining about "poor quality"). It should still be better quality than what I've uploaded, which is a lo-lo-lo-tech digital rip of an old-old-old VHS from a 2-head VCR. Lastly, the original broadcast, I believe, was in color, but the 1983 VHS was in b&w. I actually prefer the b&w. Hope this helps. I know you'll enjoy it, because heart & soul matters more than pixelation.

Patty Duke was really beautiful but Geraldine is sublime. Why the hell won't they release this exquisite production.

The original was not in color in 1966. i saw this when I was 10 and I certainly remembered it. Television in those days did not convert to complete color until 1967

Don't think you need any more commendations nevertheless one more for posting.
Like many here, seen it 20-30 years earlier and it left a rich memory. Out of the USA for many years it remained an indelible memory because of Geraldine Page and Capote narration.
It is a treasure of world cinema and the quality is exceptional considering the source.
Thanks
