I called it a three year nightmare in my first post but it didn't last 3 years and really wasn't that bad. Here is the section that CalTrans had been working on since April 08. I have to say that the crew who did the construction kicked ass and really did a great job. It was a real PIA to always have to stop for the one lane of traffic and to have 74 closed at 8:30 every night but that crew did such a great job and completed this project so fast, I don't think many of us minded. Notice the new "shoulder" and all the new concrete guard rail. This was shot on Dec 19th 2008. There is a lot of snow on the top of Ortega overlooking Elsinore and it's 28 degrees out.
