I'm pretty sure funk goes back before the 80's. The 60's and 70's have produced some thomping dinosaur jams unlike no other. Also I fund it funny how there's a whole extant culture of funkstyles dance that wasn't even touched on. Like you can watch battles and tutorials online just by searching youtube for terms like funkstyle, popping, tutting, boog, locking, grooving, ect.
