That's the problem with most horse breeders and trainer's today. They get these young horses, still fillies and colts that haven't matured into mares and stallions, and they run them in the damn ground. I don't care how well you feed the horse, and how well that horse's groundwork is. Horses need the time to let their bodies grow properly as far as their skeletal system goes, it needs to be strong at a certain and older age rather than being ridden in the process of developing.
Yeah. But it's not like they are running like hell and stopping hard in the arena at that point. That's when they are started, so groundwork mostly. Anyone with any experience in horses knows that.

Actually 18 months is the norm that most trainers start futurity horses sorry to burst anyones bubble but thats the truth
