After 26 years the last episode of The Bill has been broadcast by ITV on 31/8/10 at 9pm. Whilst it was arguably not the best series across that time, it is still a sad moment for many fans. Can I invite fans to leave comments and remember the many good characters and episodes across the years. here we see the final moments of Respect part 2 (the very last episode)

Information re The Bill...

The Bill is a police procedural television series that ran from 1984 to 2010. It focused on the lives and work of one shift of police officers, rather than on any particular aspect of police work.

The series was produced by Thames Television, its name originating from "Old Bill", a slang term for the police and Geoff McQueen's original title for the series. It originated as a one-off drama, entitled Woodentop in August 1983. ITV commissioned a series, which started in October 1984.

Through its run, the series attracted controversy on several occasions. A 2008 episode featured a fictional treatment for multiple sclerosis, and another in May 2008 resulted in litigation by MP George Galloway for defamation. The series has also faced more general criticism concerning the levels of violence it portrays, particularly prior to 2009, when it occupied a pre watershed slot.

The Bill has won several awards, including BAFTAs, a Writers' Guild of Great Britain award and the title of "best drama" at the Inside Soap Awards in 2009, the latter being the series' fourth consecutive win.

Some of the main characters across the years are - Dale Smith, Jack Meadows, Neil Manson, Gina Gold, Rachel Weston, John Heaton, Samantha Nixon, Mickey Webb, Terry Perkins, Stevie Moss, Grace Desari, Jacob Banks (Banksy) , Kezia Walker, Max Carter, Stuart Turner, Will Fletcher, Kirsty Knight, Roger Valentine, Callum Stone, Leon Taylor, Mel Ryder, Benjamin Gayle, Mel Roberts, Jo Masters, Beth Green, Millie Brown, Tony Stamp, Diane Noble, Sally Armstrong, Eddie Olosunje, Reg Hollis, Jim Carver, Bob Cryer, Don Beech, Frank Burnside, Gabriel Kent, Phil Hunter, John Boulton, Matt Boyden ,

  • 2:32... Rapist xD Frank Foster :)

  • How about they show old episodes of The Bill on itv3 instead of constant repeats of Poirot, Heartbeat, On the Buses, George & Mildred.

    U get my meaning

  • @MiChelleParKe No chance mate the Bill is dead and gone, and it has to remain so and bringing things back will never work and it is one show that is ended and dead.

  • I'd say bring back The Bill and get rid of the reality shit put on TV. This programme was the best thing on TV for me and its a programme i grew up to. Can't believe it got axed hopefully they bring The Bill back sometime soon ;(

  • Seasons 1-3 are the best, gritty, edgy, post watershed violence, language and nudity!! Very dark humour at that time. It kinda took the baton from shows like The Sweeny and just ran with it. So what did they do?..... Turn it into a bloody soap opera!!

  • 1:55 - 3:50 = The most important speech iv heard in a long time.

  • its only a matter of time eastenders and corronation streets have their last episode.
