You can turn just about anything into an idol...and we do.

  • So we should cast aside Fundamentalism and embrace Liberalism and Secularism?

    Brilliant.

I love how this video doesn't quote a single scripture to support his ideas.

  • @kawless That's not the argument being made, although a little classically understood liberality would probably do you some good. And I, in return, love how completely you don't understand the idolatrous nature of the literalist perspective. Such a festival of love!

You want scripture? Go to the right. Follow the link. I'm sure you will find many, many more things to love!

  • ridiculous

  • @Smetch Such a substantive response!

  • The Buible commands to repent of your sins and believ in Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Otherwise you'll be damned forever in hell.

  • So all of those who say "Lord, Lord!" to Jesus will be saved? Is that what Jesus himself says? Or are things more...complex?

  • I swear, fundamentalists tarnish christianty's image. And the Bible is not 100%literal. Good Work. Fundamentalism is a cult.

  • The Bible is not a textbook and was never intended to be pondered and dissected with pathological precision as exists in the modern day 'Bible study' under the guidance of experts. Itself the Bible is but a dead letter. It points to God who is the living Word. To substitute the latter for the former is indeed idolatry. Well-done BelovedSpear. I think I have found a friend!

  • That was great...too many use the bible as an axiom & not a guide that points you to the gospel...

  • @fggervas So does God create flawed humans who unless they embrace a religion they are going to burn in hell forever and ever? So what about 1 billion Muslims, 1 billion Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Sikhs, Jainists, etc are they ALL going to hell unless they become "christians"? What a fucked up god you have if the answer is yes.

Your 'god" is not a god of love but one selfish, pompous, evil monster who made so you can "praise" him all day long or you are going to hell. NICE!

  • There is no Demiurge.

  • @kawless

I'm an atheist. One of the reasons why I left the church was because God started to weigh heavily upon me of the errors of my fellow Christians, mainly idolatry. If you posses any images of God, Jesus, angels, saints, or animals that reprsent them, or the cross, you have broken the 2nd commandment. You must repent and burn the idols or you will go to hell.

  • Me and my mom were just talking about this :) we both are careful with our bibles, like not putting stuff on top of it, things like that. I asked her, do you think in some way that might be wrong? She answered, no it's the word of God!! But it's a book at the same time, it's not God...Is the bible an idol? Only God knows, plus I read it, not pray to it.
