http://www.curiousturtle.com This is an advanced tutorial for Mocha for AE V2, removing an actor from the scene. It shows how to use the Shape Plug-in to create mask shapes in Adobe After Effects. You will be expected to know the basic Mocha and After Effects interfaces. The tutorial focuses on how to use Mocha for After Effects to help out on a paint job to remove an actor from the scene. The main areas covered are: i) Tracking objects to make rotoscoping easier. ii) Using the Grid and Adjust Track to get the best data possible. iii) Tracking multiple planes simultaneously. iv) Using tracking data to help rotoscoping. v) Transferring the shape and tracking data to After Effects. vi) Using Parenting to matchmove the paint layer. vii) Adjusting the tracking information to get the best result possible. We will move between Imagineer Systems Mocha for After Effects V2 and Adobe After Effects several times. This tutorial is split into two parts and ends quite abruptly. The full tutorial can be seen at curiousturtle.com

  • Is Mocha a plugin you have to buy or does it come with After Effects?

  • @hermiethehero If you have SC4 or above then it is free with After Effects. You have to find it in the After Effects application folder as it is a standalone application.

  • where can I get the shape plugin?

  • @cc123456789 It now comes free as part of the mocha AE 2.5. That version also improves FCP support too. Take a look at Imagineer Systems site for more details.

  • Hi, please advise me how to do a text in mocha, it always move away

  • @stevenerer Hi. If it looks good in mocha and bad in AE, then you've probably made the #1 error almost everyone makes.

Take a look at the keyframes ("U" on the keyboard), select all the anchor point keyframes and delete them. You'll still have the position ones there, and that will give you your matchmove.

Check out my Rock Steady training DVD on the Curious Turtle site for more information and tutorials.
