There still is no plausible reason for those 7 boys to beat this 1 asian. It doesn't matter if they were attacked first, they shouldn't have stooped to their level, they should have contacted the police. And any form of payback should not be displayed through violence. Those "20" asians would have been arrested and that would have been payback enough for any normal and sane human being.
