@1938gwen You are not the only one person who thinks this way. Actually, nowadays when we have enough wonderful countertenors with well-develloped, advanced technique unlike just falsettists of the past who couldn't compete with castrati, and who now look and sound manly with great breath control it would be more logical and much more interesting to hear CTs in Tamerlano and Andronico's roles, and not women again. I wonder why opera directors don't listen to other than conventional opinions too?

Greatly enjoyed the DVD, but unsure why 2 females played male roles? Wonderful performers, but I would have preferred males to play male roles, Too conventional?? Domingo is marvellous. Thanks for posting.

I have never been able to come to the Royal Opera House. This is one way I can get a flavour! Perhaps I will be able to come sometime. It would be so wonderful to hear/see Placido Live!
