Duality is a well known phylosophical concept. I really like an ancient greek phylosophers Parmenides said that nothing ever changes while Heraclitus maintained that everything changes. Actually both were right just that one talked from a spiritual sight and other one from a physical.

Question: Is the English word "division" related in any way to the word dvaita? I'm curious because some English words do have Sanskrit etymological roots. Enjoyed the talk. Thanks.

The definitions of dvaita and advaita are incorrect. It is also incorrect to state that we need not pursue dvaita or advaita. These are the only two appropriate interpretations of vedas and upanishads though opposite views. Please listen to a few knowledgable swamijis/pandits who have studied them in depth. It is inappropriate to discard them without even knowing them. There is no question of getting trapped into anything. It is only a question of choosing a right path.

hes saying if you havent contacted your soul first dont stress about what is god

This video is illfounded and gives incorrect definitions of dvaita and advaita to drive his own personal ambitions. "Dont get trapped in duality or non-duality"... hmmmm. These are not "traps". Advaita is a beutiful concept that the world would do well to get "trapped" in.

That is called Dvaita Philosphy, which has got the widest & largest number of Literary works with ultimate Logicians like Sri Jayatirtha, Sri Vyasatirtha, Sri Raghoottama Tirtha, Sri Raghavendra Tirtha, etc... who incarnated on earth to serve Sri Madhvacharya, the Dvaita Exponent & an incarnation of Vayu [Hanuman & Bhima avatars]

No child will learn everything without seeking knowledge from external sources in order to follow the right steps to success. It's better to understand in detail that God is supreme & every indivisual[atman] will live upto God's mercy only to acheive his final goal, i.e desire for ultimate happiness viz... moksha.

If one needs to seek whatever his ultimate goal is, he will obviously seek to know the differences between Dvaita & Advaita to seek God and only this happens to be the ultimate truth. If one has to seek everything by himself, there was no need for this Video too to just seek an advice that seek your self!!!.

Dvaitins believe that Maya has substance...often represented as a woman
The corresponding thing in Advaita would be avidya, but avidya is not a character, but our own flaw (maya is put upon us)
I think you can see the definitions of Advaita/Dvaita from many diff perspectives...he's mentioned a few in his vid

rebel4peace,
First discovery and then the next question
Is his explanation of dvaita correct? I would v said Dvaita is the duality of individual soul vs. God or of prakriti and purusha (whether purushottama (God) or the individual soul) or of spirit and matter or in Christian terms of God and his creation. But not of the Supreme and Illusion, as he said, because even Advaitins recognize Illusion, even though it has no substance, no cause etc.
