More often--the instruments imposed themselves on the lyric, as a result, be it Shabnam or Shahanaz---we failed to realise their unique voices. This phenomenon was largely true for instrumentalists of Pakistan(1947-'71). It was as if the instruments were fighting to get upperhand over the vocalists. Quite arrogant, really. Even after the indepence, many of Ferdous Wahid & his contemporaries songs suffered. Things are getting better, hence Bappa & others are readily appreciated.

Fully agree with you. Balancing instruments is a very difficult job. It needs fine tuned nice ears and a good studio. Unfortunately in Bangladesh we did not find much experts in this field and as a result we could not get the real taste of our good singers performance. We could not pay our honour that Sabina, Shahnaz, Bashir, Hadi, F. Wahid, Bonya, Nilufar yasmin, M. Nabi, Kaderi Kibria, M A Hamid, Khurshid Alam and many others deserve. Still the studios are not well equipped. Our bad luck.
