2009 Toyota Matrix XRS by Edmunds' Inside Line

The 2009 Toyota Matrix is supposed to be very influential, just as the original Matrix proved when it was introduced in 2003. This tall wagon-style compact based on the Toyota Corolla had a sport-utility flavor but drove like a car, making it one of the first crossovers with an affordable price tag. Its big backseat and dog-friendly cargo bay made utility kind of cool. Without the Matrix, the Mazda3 five-door, Scion xB and even the Audi A3 might not have achieved the coolness they have today.

And I thought the first Matrix was ugly. Its only redeeming factor is its engine. A 2.4 litre 4 cylinder engine, producing 158hp and 162lbs-ft of torque. That's what every small engine should have, more torque.

I purchased the AWD version and the gas mileage is 30% more than what Toyota claims ... this thing is noisy on the highway and overall interior material feels really cheap .... there are better choices out there, shame on Toyota.

? The TSX 2.4 makes 201hp so what? Just because 2 engines have the same displacement doesnt mean they are tuned the same
