Thorin Eichenschild is the most attractive dwarf.:-)

@blodstainer: Got it ... yeah, I agree. Some people think that PJ intentionally compressed the timeline ... as in cut 17 years out of the story ... and so think that Aragorn might be in "The Hobbit" as a 27-year-old man. I just think that's overthinking things. I don't think it was PJ's intent to have major shifts in the chronology ... I think he just filmed times when things were happening, and ignored times when nothing was happening.

@drdaveoldguy Yeah, I agree with you, but what I meant is IF he put down let's say 10-20 mins on showing that there was a time-jump that would've lost the audience because when its shown like this you get a feeling everything's just flowing, and that gandalf only were away for a short time.
-
@blodstainer: Didn't quite follow you on that. I mostly think it is glossed over because, from Frodo's perspective, nothing much happens during those 17 years. (Even Tolkien covers most of that time is all of one paragraph in FotR.) That plus PJ undoubtedly didn't want to try and deal with what would have been some visible aging in the appearance of the hobbits ... especially Pippin.
-
@drdaveoldguy yes, but it's glossed over because he didn't want people who didn't knew it to "forget" about the dangerous and threats that mordor possessed all the time :P

Y U NO BUILD ORTHANC!!!

@scotsmanmemag : Yeah, it's pretty clear from the chronology in the Appendix to LOTR:RotK. Aragorn was born T.A.2931, Bilbo's adventures w/ the dwarves T.A.2941, Bilbo's 111th b'day at the start of the LOTR T.A.3001, and Frodo's quest to destroy the ring T.A.3018. There were 77 years between "Hobbit" and Aragorn's appearance in LOTR, when he was 87. (A lot of people forget the 17 years between the start of LOTR and Frodo's adventure ... it's totally glossed over in the films.)

@drdaveoldguy Are you sure re: Aragorn's age? I thought he would have been in his 20's at this point. Doesn't matter either way.
